4th Annual Mitten Tree

In the spirit of the season, we will once again be collecting new winter clothing accessories to be donated to families in need.

Bring in any new mittens, hats, socks, scarves, etc. and we will display your name on a paper mitten on our Mitten Tree.

Need comes in all sizes, so items of any size, color and fabric are welcome!

Food for Fines

Do you owe money to the library?
Maybe you returned a DVD late or have items still overdue?  Help us feed those in need in our community while at the same time setting your record straight.
During November and December, bring in canned, nonperishable food, or unused toiletry items and we will reduce your fines*; we will honor an even exchange of one donated item for the elimination of one overdue item on your record.
Help us help others.

*Fine forgiveness cannot be extended to material belonging to other libraries, or lost or damaged items.

More Community Service Credit!

Teen Advisory Board Meeting (TAB)
Today, November 6, 7-8pm
Grades 7-12

Come to the Library tonight for our Teen Advisory Board Meeting.  We will have our usual lively discussion about books, music, movies and everything else in between.  We'll also create a lovely autumn bulletin board and display with your fellow teens with the timely themes: What are you thankful for? and How do you say Thank You?.  New members always welcome, and feel free to bring a friend.  Snacks will be served.
Participating members will receive one hour of community service.

Make sure to attend our next meeting, too, on December 4.

Some changes for YA
So many of you have been interested in our volunteer opportunities--yay!  Unfortunately, because most opportunities require only a few volunteers, they fill up fast.  So, in an effort to accommodate the increased popularity of volunteer opportunities, we have changed the procedure for registering.  Registration will now be limited to two opportunities (including waitlists) per person, per Librafax.  Also, you will have to either call or visit the Reference Desk to register; there is no longer online registration available.
With your demanding academics we understand that you need to log volunteer hours.  And we love that you love to come here for your community service.  But, we do need to give a fair chance to everyone interested and appreciate your understanding as we make these changes.  For a complete listing of the volunteer opportunities we offer go here.
And, because we want to help you, we've compiled a list of local organizations that take teen volunteers.  Check out the list, it's got some pretty interesting opportunities.  Just make sure to check the age requirements as they vary from group to group.
