Teen Advisory Board (TAB) Meeting  EIY706
Tuesday, January 8, 7-8pm, Grades 7-12
Start your New Year off right by joining TAB.  Come and join our lively discussion about books, teen library programs, music, movies, art and everything else in between.  Share your creative ideas with your fellow teens and create a fabulous winter reading themed bulletin board in the Teen Bistro.  Bring friends, snacks will be served.  Participating members receive one hour of community service.

Recycled Christmas Lights  EIY786
Thursday, January 17, 7-8pm, Grades 5-12
Come down to the Library and we'll recycle a Christmas light strand into a decorative light string to brighten the decor in your room.  Please bring 3 "AA" size batteries.

Join your fellow teens and create a bulletin board that's full of heart by bringing hearts of different sizes and colors with the titles of books you love to the meeting.  We will have our usual lively discussion about book, etc.  Bring a friend!  Snacks will be served.  Participating members will receive one hour of community service.

Cupcake Wars  EIY713
Tuesday, February 12, 7-8pm, Grades 5-12
Join us for this fun and friendly competition.  Teams will work together, competing with chocolate cupcakes.  Taste...presentation...how far will your team go?

Tween Reading Club  EIY785
Thursday, February 14, 3:30-5pm, Grades 6-8
Join Mrs. Ware, East Islip Middle School Librarian and Mrs. Worst, East Islip Public Library YA Librarian, to discuss the graphic novel Cardboard by Doug TenNapel: After Cam's father gives him a cardboard box for his birthday, they fashion it into a man that comes to life, but things spin out of control when a bully steals a scrap of the cardboard to create creatures that disobey his orders and multiply into an army.  Bring a friend and join this lively discussion.  Snacks will be served.

New York Safe Boating Class  EIY703
Tuesday, February 19 (6-9pm), Wednesday, February 20 (6-9pm) & Thursday, February 21 (7-9pm)
Ages: 10+     Fee: $35 for ages 10-17; $40 for ages 18+
According to the new Suffolk County law, this class is required for anyone who wishes to operate personal watercraft or a boat.  Upon completion of this 8-hour class and passing the written exam, students will receive a temporary certification card.  You must attend all three classes to obtain a certificate.  Register, with your library card and exact change, at the Reference Desk.
