New York State Archives Student Research Awards

New York State students, in grades 4-12, may work individually or in groups.  Projects must include an annotated bibliography and use historical records. Projects need not be focused on New York State history but often, the most successful research projects examine an event from a local point of view.

Acceptable projects:
  • Research papers
  • Papers reconstructing the past
  • Exhibits
  • Documentaries
  • Performances
  • PowerPoint/Prezi entries
  • Websites
  • Proposals for the designation of a historical marker, property or district
Awards:
  • Total of 3 awards given (Grades 4-5, 6-8 & 9-12)
  • Winners will receive a framed certificate and a cash prize
  • Certificates of Merit will also be awarded to entries other than the winners
Entries must be postmarked no later than July 1, 2014.
