Girl Scouts Annual Light Show

Just because Christmas is over doesn't mean you can't do one more holiday activity.

Through December 30th, you can visit Girl Scouts Camp Edy and travel through a mile-long wooded trail filled with captivating light and holiday displays.

Located on Lakeview Avenue in Bayport the light show runs daily from 5pm-9pm.

So gather your family and go enjoy!

In an effort to begin to heal and move past the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School, teachers have asked for paper snowflakes from around the country.

After the holiday season, the students of Sandy Hook Elementary School will move into a temporary, vacant building and your paper snowflakes can help brighten the students' lives.

Paper snowflakes are easy to make and a simple way to make a difference.

Listen to a Life Contest

This contest gives you the chance to travel through time and learn about the past, while discovering a direction for your own future.

Students must interview one older person and write a 300-word story to send a message around the world and into the future.  All winning essays become part of the Legacy Project's online Legacy Library.

Each entry must be submitted by an intergenerational team consisting of one young person, 8-18 years old, and one older person, at least 50 years old, from the United States or Canada.

The essay must be an original, true story about a real event or experience in the older entrant's life and be based on an actual interview the young person completes in person, over the phone, or via the Internet with a living older adult.

One Grand Prize Timeless Award Winner Receives a Lenovo ThinkCentre computer, a keepsake timepiece from Expressions of Time, and an autographed copy of Dream, an award-winning bestseller about time, legacies and dreams across a lifetime.

10 Legacy Award Winners receive a keepsake timepiece from Expressions of Time and an autographed copy of Dream, an award-winning bestseller about time, legacies and dreams across a lifetime.

Join Mrs. Ware, East Islip Middle School Librarian and Mrs. Worst, East Islip Public Library YA Librarian, on Thursday, December 13 from 3:30-5pm, for a lively tween book discussion! For grades 6-8. Refreshments will be served.
