Need some study help?

School is almost over - yay! - but that means it's almost time for finals - boo!  We have something that can help, though; Live-brary.com's invaluable Homework Help and tutoring services.  Live-brary.com is a cooperative project of the public libraries of Suffolk County.  It presents a one-stop, digital branch for Suffolk County public library cardholders to access online resources.

Live-brary.com Homework Help is:

Convenient:
  • Available to students K-12 with an East Islip Library card.
  • Tutors are available Monday through Sunday from 2pm-11pm.
  • A 24-hour writing lab allows students to submit essays and other forms of writing for constructive feedback.
Varied:
  • Tutors are trained in math, science, reading/writing, social studies and general skills.
  • As the school year progresses, tutors will also offer assistance in PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP and New York state standardized tests.
Safe:
  • Homework Help tutors are trained and certified.  All tutors have been cleared with thorough background checks and must possess a four-year degree and have prior teaching/tutoring experience.
  • Students remain anonymous during every session.
  • A transcript of each session is recorded and can be e-mailed.

New York Safe Boating Class

Tuesday, May 20, 6-9pm
Wednesday, May 21, 6-9pm
Thursday, May 22, 7-9pm

Ages: 10+
Fee: $50 CASH for all ages

Recent New York State law requires that anyone born on or after May 1, 1996 must obtain a boating license; this supersedes last year's Suffolk County law that requires all boaters to obtain a license.  Additionally, all persons operating watercraft (Jet Skis) must have a boating certificate and be at least 14-years-old.

So take this class just before the summer starts; the license earned in this class is good for both boats and Jet Skis and will last for a lifetime.

You must attend all three classes to obtain a certificate.

Register, with your library card and exact change, at the Reference Desk.
