2017 Profile in Courage Essay Contest
The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation invites U.S. high school students to honor the 100th anniversary of JFK's birth by participating in the 2017 Profile in Courage Essay Contest.
In Profiles in Courage, John F. Kennedy recounted the stories of eight U.S. senators who demonstrated political courage by risking their careers to do what was right for the nation. The Profile in Courage Essay Contest challenges U.S. high school students to write a new profile in courage describing and analyzing an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year of JFK's birth.
Winners receive:
First-place prize winner gets $20,000 and an expense-paid trip to Boston to receive recognition at the Centennial event.
Second-place winner gets $1,000
Five finalists will get $500 each
Eighteen Centennial awards of $100 each
